Each one looks up towards a person, who can bestow health, faith, courage and strength in the endeavors of life. The blessed ones sheltered under the umbrella of Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh have experienced paradise. A medical professional, in the field of Ayurveda, has obliged the society in many ways.
'Goddess Saraswati the goddess of wits' has blessed Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh. The blessed soul, along with his scientific excellence, and benevolent nature has always worked towards the upliftment of the needy. God has helped mankind through people like Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh, who are blessed with divinity. For the past forty years, all those who have been helped by Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh, have felt the touch of God.
The stream of knowledge of the Vedas, and Ayurved being a part of the Atharva Veda, flows in the Sardeshmukh family. Revered Shri Prabhakar Keshav Sardeshmukh, well known as Maharaj and the father of Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh, was truly a multifaceted personality. A philosopher with spiritual authority, having beliefs in modern sciences, had a commendable command on traditional Ayurved, especially 'Nadipariksha', the knowledge of which has been flowing in Sardeshmukh family from nine generations. This family tradition of 'Nadipariksha' has been efficiently mastered by Dr. Sadanand Sardeshmukh.
In the year 1954 Paramapoojya Maharaj established Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust for a noble cause to pursue and propagate academics in Four Vedas,
Six Shastras, Eighteen Puranas, Fourteen Vidyas and Sixty-four Kalas, in India and abroad. Maharaj donated 63 acres of land to the trust. The trust is located at Wagholi, about 20 kms., towards the east from Pune.
Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh, has been the first person to obtain a Ph. D. in the faculty of Ayurved in the state of Maharashtra. He is the Chairman of Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust. He has been a consulting Ayurvedic Physician since 1967. Being an expert in the field of Ayurved, many lucrative opportunities have allured him, but Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh has devoted his entire life for the development of Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust, the propagation of Ayurved and treating chronic diseases like Cancer, AIDS etc. Under his able guidance the trust has achieved many awards. The trust is consistently striving towards fulfilling the dreams of Shri Parampoojya Maharaj, which had been expressed at the time of establishment of the trust in 1954.
Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh, has been conducting various research projects. Observing the significantly rising cases of Cancer, he started the Cancer Research Project in the year 1994. With the aim of 'Diagnosing cancer from the Ayurvedic point of view', 'Evaluating Ayurvedic treatment in various types of cancers at various stages', 'Controlling progression of the disease' & 'Avoiding early & late recurrence'. The research project is mainly directed to achieve elevated immunity levels in the patients, improvement in quality of life by relieving their symptoms, reducing side effects of Chemotherapy & Radiotherapy. The aim is to increase life expectancy and to find causative factors of cancer for curative & preventive purposes.
Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh started AIDS Research Project in 1998 with the aim to achieve better immunity in the patients, give symptomatic relief and improving the quality of life and lifespan in AIDS patients.
Similarly, with the intention of finding out curative as well as preventive measures using Ayurved for various diseases, Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh has started many research projects like the, Arthritis Project, Female Child Welfare Project, Fracture and Delayed Bone Healing Project, Panchakarma Project. The dedication with which these projects are being carried out, have resulted in success, as patients lead better life styles, and the healthy maintain their health.
Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh, regularly invited in various countries like Germany, Japan, Holland, Australia, Austria and USA for delivering lectures on Ayurved and to guide the healthy to maintain their health. His endeavors towards propagation of Ayurved abroad, during his foreign visits, have resulted in many foreigners adapting to the Ayurved lifestyle, and the use of Ayurvedic medicines.
Foreigners are visiting Wagholi, Pune, India for advice and Ayurvedic knowledge.
Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh has written various books on Ayurved.
He has received various prestigious national awards viz. Indira Gandhi Sadbhavana Award, Rashtriya Rattan Award etc. for his contribution in the field of Ayurved and distinguished services to the nation. He has organised many International, National and State level - Seminars, Workshops and Conferences on Ayurved.
A gentleman, who has dedicated his entire life for humanity, wouldn't be a hyperbolic statement, after seeing Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh's journey of life. Making life better to live for the masses, using the Science of Ayurved, is the sole aim of his life. Many patients who had lost faith in life due to the miseries were given a new hope of healthy life by Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh.
With a positive attitude, patient's co-operation and the mercy of God, Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh helps to tide over their period of crisis. He helps to win over through the troubled times.
Commercialization has become an integral part of medical profession at many places. Patients have lost their faith in humanity. At such times when they come across a doctor who is not just treating them physically, but emphasizes on boosting up their morale, then for these patients, financial problems, emotional turmoil, physical pain' everything becomes tolerable and seems to be easy to overcome. His counseling, his understanding, his concern about his patients as well as their relatives, his committed nature and above all, his expertise in Ayurvedic medical field all these things just make life much more happier and worthy for his patients. Not only his patients, but acquaintances too, recognize Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh as 'A man of Principles'.
As a Principal he has maintained strict discipline in college. He has not just looked after the academic development of students but he has always given more emphasis on overall development of his students in all aspects like Culture, Art, Morals, Virtues, Social bindings etc. all this, along with the health of the students. He believes in the blending of modern science with traditional Ayurved. The basic principles of Ayurved were never compromised. He has always encouraged his subordinates to go ahead in their careers and has always proved to be a great helping hand. For the same reason he has been treated as a philosophical guide by his colleagues and juniors. He has always proved to be an emotional pillar in times of crisis for the people who are familiar with him. His counseling, his nature to stand-by people in upheaval, has made him a great support for people around him.
His tremendous stamina, his modest nature, gratitude towards elders, social bindings, all this, makes him a distinguished personality. Giving treatment at concessional rates and not charging the needy, educational institutes being run at nominal charges, holding health awareness exhibitions, free general consultation camps, free cancer consultation camps, blood donation camps, free squint correction operations etc. are to name a few of his social activities.
Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh possesses a unique virtue as he does social work for a cause with a scientific approach towards it. A generous heart, kind in his speech and compassion blended with intelligence are the things which renew the faith in humanity.
