Reorientation Training Programs on Significance of Shalyatantra in Cancer
 
            Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust is conducting Cancer Research Project since 1994. Till date more than 4000 Cancer patients are treated in this project. Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust is also conducting under graduate & post graduate courses at Ayurved College since 1998.
            On the basis of Research work in the field of Cancer, Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), National Academy of Ayurved, an Autonomous Organisation under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of AYUSH, Government of India, New Delhi; has given an opportunity & sanctioned funds to conduct two Reorientation Training Programs on Significance of Shalyatantra in Cancer.
Aim of Reorientation Training Programs is to update knowledge of teachers in specific subject. This is necessary to enhance their teaching abilities & to upgrade their knowledge.
            These Reorientation Training Programs were conducted at Ayurved College, Wagholi, Pune from 18/3/2010 to 23/3/2010 under the able guidance of Prof. Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh & Prof. Dr. U. V. Tekawade. Dr. D. V. Shelke, Lecturer, Surgery Department & Dr. Vineeta Deshmukh, In charge - Research, co- ordinated the events.
            Experts in the field of Cancer from various medical faculties like Chemotherapists, Radiotherapists, Onco – surgeons, Onco – pathologists & Ayurvedic Physicians trained the trainees of Reorientation Training Programs. 18 Oncologists of ‘Reorientation Training Program - I’ & 19 Oncologists of ‘Reorientation Training Program - II’ delivered experience based lectures on Cancer, which were really helpful to train the trainees.
            Lecturers & Associate Professors of Shalyatantra (Surgery), Shalakyatantra (ENT, Ophthalmology), Kayachikitsa (Medicine), Stree Roga – Prasuti (Gynacology & Obstratics) & Nidan (Pathology) Departments from various Ayurved Colleges in India participated as Trainees in these Reorientation Training Programs. 21 Trainees participated in Reorientation Training Program - I while 20 Trainees participated in Reorientation Training Program - II.

            11.           Samprapti & management of CA Breast from Ayurvedic aspect
            12.           Various treatment modalities of Cancer from Ayurvedic perspective
            13.           Panchakarma Chikitsa in Cancer
            14.           Rasayana Chikitsa in Cancer
            15.           Drug standardization of Anti – Cancer medicines
            16.           Herbs used in Cancer treatment
            17.           Integrated approach in Cancer Management
            On this occasion, Exhibition on “Cancer – Ayurved”, having 120 charts was also displayed covering information of Cancer from Ayurvedic & Allopathic aspects.
            Along with theoretical knowledge, an effort was made to train the trainees to diagnose & treat Cancer patients. For this purpose, Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh presented Case reports of 15 patients who were treated in Cancer Research Project undertaken by Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust. In this session, Trainees had an opportunity to communicate with these patients directly. Trainees also experienced a dialogue with Cancer patients admitted in Panchakarma Centre. This session was appreciated by Trainees as it opened them a new horizon in Cancer Treatment.
            A visit was organized in Radiotherapy Department of Ruby Hall Clinic Pune, which was useful to understand practical knowledge of Radiotherapy in Cancer management.
            Dr. V. V. Prasad, Director, RAV & Nodal Office, RoTP/CME, Dr. S. D. Mishraji, Member of Managing Committee, RAV & Dr. Manoj Nesari, Joint Advisor (Ayurved), Department of AYUSH, New Delhi visited our institute & Reorientation Training Programs during this period.
            These 2 events facilitated to improve academic & clinical performance of Trainees, Cancer Research Centre & Ayurved College of Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust. Efforts of medical & non- medical staff of Ayurved College & Research Centre made these events a grand success.
